My Point of View of Lim Soon Peng and Khir Toyo

Let’s talk about the recent fiasco over the shifting of the bus terminal from the old Great Wall, Jalan Batu Tiga, Klang to the new location in Sentral, Klang.  These are my point of views

The Burned Down Great Wall

There must had been pressure for the occupants in the Great Wall to move out.  The rental in the Great Wall supermarket must be chicken feed and many occupants were reluctant to move out.

A Developer in Need of Attraction

In order for any project to be successful, the developer must attract crowd to his development.

The Arson

Considering that not many occupants in the Great Wall Shopping Centre were eager to leave their rented shops since they were paying dirt cheap rental fees, the only way to move them out is by force.  Obviously if you hire thugs, it would look very obvious.  The only way to chase away the occupants would be to burn the Great Wall Shopping Centre.

Rigid Structure but Declared Unsafe

Please bear in mind that the Great Wall Shopping Centre is made from Reinforced Concrete Structure.  These sort of structure is known to withstand heat and fire for prolonged periods of time.  Unlike the World Trade Centre, consisting of steel, it melted in no time.  Great Wall Shopping Centre’s damage wasn’t that severe since the Fire Department is merely  less than 1 km away and the fire was easily controlled.

Even during demolition, heavey machineries were seen on top of the first floor.  However, MPK certified that the building was unsafe.

Safe Foundation

Even if the structure is not safe, the foundation is definitely useable and definitely safe.  The fire do not go into the ground and burn the wet ground.  Furhermore the ground is protected with a concrete floor.  The foundation is definitely safe.  If the foundation is safe, one can easily build another buildingusing the old foundations.

But somehow, MPK who is supposed to be well versed with engineering decided to turn a place with lots of foundation into a park.  They have some sort of hidden agenda of not making use of the foundation to rebuild the shopping mall.  The hidden agenda which I think is to give way to the developer Lim Soon Peng of TitiJaya.

Titijaya’s Development

Some of the ongoing projects by Lim Soon Peng which are very near the Sentral Bus station are as follows: –

Klang Sentral Commercial Centre, Klang – Phase 1 Shop/Offices – 3 Storey Shop / Office

Sentral Walk – 22′ X 70′ First and Only 3&4 Storey

Mutiara Point Business Park – Jalan Meru, Klang – Shopping Centre

Proposed Investigations

Obviously the ACA must be sleeping for not investigating this incident.  The ACA must also be sleeping because they are not investigating the Income Tax department and Lim Soon Peng.   Can you imagine, the Income Tax department in Klang shifted just accross one street to an area which has inadequate car parking facilities.  I really wonder why.

Why Build Another Bus Station When The Old One Can Be Used ?

I mentioned earlier that the foundation of Great Wall can be re-used.  Why is it that MPK decide to build another bus station?  If they build the Sentral Bus Station, they have to pay the cost of piling plus structure.  If they rebuild Great Wall, they only pay for demolition works and structure which is much cheaper.  You may argue saying demolition is expensite (believe me it’s dirt cheap) but if demolition works are expensive, then why MPK demolished the Great Wall anyway and not leave it alone?

The Days Before Election

Days before the General Election in 2008, Lim Soon Peng was seen with Khir Toyo in many functions.  But Toyo’s days were numbered because many people can see truth.

Boycott of US brands to begin tomorrow

PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Muslim Consumers Association will spearhead the nationwide boycott of US-made products after Friday’s prayers at the National Mosque.

Secretary-general Datuk Dr Maamor Osman said the products that were targeted included cola soft drinks, gourmet coffee and cosmetics.

The operators of Muslim restaurants would also stop selling cola drinks at their premises, he added.

Dr Maamor said Malaysians should support the boycott, which would show that consumer power was an effective weapon against the US states and its close ally Israel.

“We are also targeting these companies because they have subsidiaries here.

“Consumers have other brands they can buy,” he said.

Association project director Noor Norwandy Mat Noordin said a drop in sales would send a stronger, lasting message about the situation in Pales- tine.

Malaysian Muslim Solidarity Movement president Datuk Zulkifli Mohamad urged members of the Organisation of the Islamic Confe- rence to take a stronger stand against Israel’s actions.

The boycott move came after former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad urged the global community to not buy American-made products and the US currency to pressure the US government to stop supporting Israel’s attacks on Gaza.

Some even said they lost their virginity at the age of 10, while others claimed they had multiple sex partners.

They also told Metro Ahad they would ostracise schoolmates who were still virgins.

A 15-year-old from Johor told the paper she first had sex with her boyfriend when in Year Five and was now “addicted to sex.”

“When I was in Form Three I started changing partners, and have done it with two guys at once,” she told the tabloid.

Another 15-year-old girl from Selangor told the paper the term “pure” or virgin did not exist between her friends and her.

“What is wrong if my friends and I want some fun and have sex while we are still young? ,” she told the tabloid.

GEORGE TOWN: A 29-year-old man who goes by the name “Datuk Kabi” claimed trial in a magistrate’s court in Balik Pulau to cheating a car salesman of RM75,000.

C. Kamaleshwaran, who was unrepresented, claimed trial to cheating Ng Cheiw Beng, 43, by inducing him into believing that an AmBank (M) Bhd cheque dated April 5, 2006 for RM75,000 was genuine.

On trial: Kamaleshwaran being led away by a policeman after he was charged at the Balik Pulau magistrates court Friday. He was later rearrested.

The cheque was purportedly payment made by Kamaleshwaran to Ng for the purchase of a car.

Kamaleshwaran, from Kuala Ketil, Kedah, denied committing the offence at the Pappadom Restaurant at Krystal Point in Sungai Nibong at 3pm on March 26, 2006.

He faces a maximum jail term of 10 years with whipping and a fine if found guilty.

Prosecuting officer Chief Insp Md Saad Hassan had suggested bail of RM8,000 but Kamaleshwaran appealed for a lesser amount saying his aged mother could not afford the high amount.

Magistrate Norhayati Johar allowed Kamaleshwaran bail of RM3,000 in one surety and fixed the case for mention on Feb 11.

It was learnt that Kamaleshwaran was rearrested outside the court for other related cases in Penang after his mother posted bail in the afternoon.

It has been reported that a “Datuk Kabi” was involved in more than 20 cheating cases involving land and other transactions using dishonoured cheques in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Kedah and Penang.

He allegedly issued cheques from a closed bank account to buy and rent houses and purchase other goods.

The man had turned himself in to the Bukit Aman Commercial Crimes Department on Dec 18, last year.

Cops to probe newscaster and actress for drug use, possession

How come I was not invited?

KUALA LUMPUR: The 26 people, including a newscaster with Astro Awani and a part-time actress, detained during a New Year’s day raid will now be investigated for using and possession of drugs.

City CID chief Senior Asst Comm (II) Ku Chin Wah said police would investigate the case for drugs as no sexual acts were committed at the purported sex party. All were intoxicated but still clothed when arrested, he said.

Urine tests on the newscaster, actress and seven others, all aged between 20 and 30, were positive for Ecstasy and ketamine. Police said further tests would be conducted at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital.

Party paraphernalia: Drugs and condoms were among the items found when police raided a hotel room and nabbed 26 people on Thursday.

Various drugs, including cocaine and syabu, were found when police stormed a room on the 11th floor of a hotel in Jalan P. Ramlee at 3.30am on Thursday.

The party was planned by a newly-wed couple via Friendster, an online social networking site through which the partygoers got to know one another.

City narcotics chief Asst Comm Kang Chez Chiang said the 26 have been remanded until tomorrow to facilitate investigations.

The 22-year-old newscaster is due to be married next week. The actress, 25, is also a scriptwriter and has played a role in a movie made by a famous director.

Zahid faults woman over blog

TELUK INTAN: The woman who denied owning a blog that insulted Prophet Muhammad should have acted more swiftly in removing the offensive content.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is in charge of Islamic affairs, said that she should have acted immediately when the blog’s existence was allegedly uncovered several months ago.

Ready for action: Ismail placing a beret on a Special Action Squad officer in Ulu Kinta yesterday.

On Sunday, it was reported that the woman, in her 20s, denied owning the blog and that it had been created to target her and her employer.

However, Dr Ahmad Zahid said the woman should take responsibility even if she had not been monitoring the content of the site.

“She should monitor her own blog. People are visiting it and she cannot put the blame on somebody else,” he told reporters after launching the Batang Padang and Hilir Perak Federal Development Office here yesterday.

Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar said police had identified several people who could be responsible for the blog.

He did not disclose details but said investigations were ongoing.

“We have a special team under the commercial crime director investigating the matter.

“And we are working closely with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission,” Ismail told reporters at the Northern Brigade General Operations Force in Ulu Kinta yesterday.

He said police also found out that the server used was located outside the country.

Busted – gang extorting nightclubs

KUALA LUMPUR: An extortion gang wanted for terrorising nightclubs in Sri Hartamas was busted by police on Thursday night with the arrest of five men.

The five, aged between 20 and 46, were said to be working as security guards, parking attendants and bouncers.

They targeted entertainment outlets and demanded “protection money” from several pub owners in the area.

Brickfields police chief Asst Comm Wan Bari Wan Abdul Khalid said they would break into and damage premises of owners who did not pay up.

In the latest incident on Thursday, two popular nightclubs had their front windows smashed in the wee hours of the morning.

One of the nightclub owners, who declined to be named, said he was previously approached by gang members asking for protection money but refused to pay them.

“I was shocked to find the windows completely smashed and broken glass everywhere,” he said.

City CID chief Senior Asst Comm II Ku Chin Wah said the incident occurred around 4am when men on motorcycles used helmets and golf clubs to vandalise the premises.

Police are looking for two men to assist in investigations.

Fuck Jimmy Choo–hell with his shoes!!!

Today We Call Out Jimmy Choo For Attempted Reverse Domain Hijacking: Why Is There No Penalty For This?

December 19th, 2008 · No Comments

Anyone who reads this blog knows we are squarely again blatant trademark infringing domains, the companies and platforms that sell them, and those who buy them.

However, we are also strongly opposed to large companies trying to take advantage of their wealth, power and ability to pay large legal fees to basically steal domains they have no right to.

He is a case of one such company, Jimmy Choo, the maker of fine footwear made even more famous by Sex in The City.

So here’s the story.

Jimmy Choo lawyers sent a letter, you know the type, threatening a women who owns a small internet gift shop Kookychoo.com, telling her she must agree, by Tuesday, to give up its name or face a lawsuit.

Actually, the owner of Kookychoo.com, registered for her own trademark, when they were first contacted by Jimmy Choo, telling her new company to drop plans to trademark its name or get sued.

She and business partner were prepared to do that, but then another letter this week asked that the company cease using the domain Kookychoo.com

Moreover, not only did they lawyers for Jimmy Choo demand this women stop using the domain, they “want us to send all our business cards and any printed material that we have to them as well.”

Here’s the kicker, the site Kookychoo.com does not sell shoes.

Nor is it a parking site serving up ads containing the trademarked term.

Instead the site features gifts such as a teddy bears, a Venetian glass bracelets and a hot pink bean bags.

“There is absolutely no comparison, there’s nothing remotely even similar in our branding, in the products that we sell.” to Jimmy Choo’s products.

In the latest letter, Jimmy Choo’s counsel, asks Kookychoo to “agree that you will never use the Kookychoo trademark or any other trademark that is similar to Jimmy Choo or Choo in relation to any goods or services that are identical or similar to the goods covered by our client’s registered trademarks”.

Mrs James said lawyers had told her that she might have a case, but it would cost upwards of $50,000 to fight it.

“I’m a mother of seven and I live out on a little farm, there’s no way I have those kind of funds.”

Yesterday she was preparing to accede to the company’s demands.

No doubt, just as bad as a bang on  trademark infringement, are bang on thefts of people’s domain name.

It looks like this company wants any domain ending in “choo” and with the funds to support this legal theft they can pick off people who cannot afford to defend themselves.

When Congress moves on CADNA efforts for stronger trademark laws, next year, I urge the ICA and all domainers to move for a fine or penalty to be imposed, if a judge or WIPO panel determines that the case amounts to reserve hijacking.

Right now domain holders are subject to civil fines and damages if a case is filed in federal court.

Why shouldn’t a company engaged in reverse domain hijacking be liable for the same amount of fines for in its attempt to steal a domain?

Right now we have a situation where a company can play this game risk free.

All they have to do now is pay an attorney a few bucks to write a letter, and if the domain holder can’t afford to fight the case which is going to be 99% of the time, they get something they have no right to for free.  There is no financial downside, because there is no fine or penalty in place for “trademark” holders who go after domains they have no right to.  If there was a $100,000 per domain, fine or damages, for bringing such an action, these companies would have to think twice before stealing other people’s property.

In the meantime keep this case in mind next time your shopping for “choo”s
