Bodoh Datuk – Not Datuk Chris Goh Though

KUALA LUMPUR: A Datuk whose daughter is due to be married today was hauled up to the Sessions Court yesterday to face two cheating charges involving RM922,000.

He is expected to be charged next Wednesday with another 363 counts of cheating, which involved seven financial institutions and RM35 million.

Datuk Ng Kim Weng, 57, and his former colleague Lim Geok Lan, 50, were jointly charged with cheating Bank Bumiputra-Commerce Bhd officers by inducing them to believe that the invoices and delivery orders provided for the application of banker’s acceptance services dated Jan 31, 2005, were genuine.

The two allegedly induced the officers to approve a RM344,000 loan for ABI Malaysia Sdn Bhd at the bank’s Trade Services Centre in Jalan Tun Perak, between Jan 28 and 31, 2005.

Ng was the former managing director of ABI Malaysia, while Lim was a former director. ABI Malaysia is a subsidiary of Polymate Holdings Bhd — a public-listed company — in which Ng was the former group managing director.
Ng was also charged separately with inducing the bank officers to approve a loan of RM321,000 to ABI Malaysia Sdn Bhd, on Dec 7, 2004, while Lim allegedly committed a similar offence involving RM257,000 on Feb 25, 2005.

The duo also faced alternative charges of using forged documents as genuine in committing the offences.

Both Ng and Lim claimed trial to all charges.

Deputy public prosecutor Faridah Mohd Salleh proposed RM1.5 million bail each with one surety and asked for their passports to be surrendered to the court.

She urged the court to consider the seriousness of the offences, which caused the banks to lose a huge sum of money.

Ng’s counsel Harpal Singh pleaded for a lower amount, saying that Ng’s wife could only raise RM200,000.

“My client is pleading to the court to allow him to attend his daughter’s wedding,” he said.

The court was also informed that Ng had surrendered his passport in 2007, when the Securities Commission charged him with submitting false information to Bursa Malaysia.

Lim’s lawyer Jasvinjit Singh said Lim’s niece could only raise RM50,000.

“Lim is currently working as an insurance agent and earns about RM5,000 monthly.”

Judge S.M. Komathy Suppiah granted Ng RM200,000 bail with one surety and Lim RM100,000 bail with one surety. They posted bail.

She also ordered Lim to surrender her passport to the court.

“This is only an interim figure. I will reconsider the figure when the remaining charges are read to them,” said Komathy, who fixed Jan 21 for the other charges to be read.

Gangsters and Loan Sharks Rule the Royal Malaysian Police (Polis Diraja Malaysia) ?

This is Malaysia.  Polis is the Malay word for Police.  Welcome to Malaysia my friends.  Malaysia is a bodohland (stupid land in Malay).  Why?  Well, because it looks as if Thugs and Loan Sharks rule over the Royal Malaysian Police.  The first photo depicts loan sharks pasting their posters on a Police Hut.  Pinjaman Bulanan means Monthly Loan.

Happy Chinese New Year.

Michael Chong the Loan Shark Leader or Not ?

It really baffles me how Michael Chong can deal with the loan sharks and know of their operations.  If Michael Chong is a nobody and knows so much, why aren’t the police doing anything?  I remember posting a video on how posters of loan shark advert were hung in front of a police station.  Well, Michael Chong, I am sure you have brains to come up with strategies to terminate the loan sharks indefinitely.

Why can’t the police arrest the contractors and find out who the loan sharks are?

Therer is something fishy about you Michael Chong and also the police in Malaysia.  All because This is UMNO.  This is Barisan Nasional.

Loan sharks restrategise
Tim Leonard

PETALING JAYA (Jan 13, 2009) :
When the going gets tough, loan sharks get going. With the frequent clampdowns on illegal money lending activities, loan sharks in the Klang Valley are restrategising their business models.

theSun learnt that several loan sharks have “amalgamated” their “financing” business with housing renovation contractors to come up with a new business concept – renovate first, pay later.

These loan sharks and contractors are fast making in-roads with their new concept, and how they go about making money is simple.

Loan shark runners are positioned in newly completed projects, especially apartments and shop offices, to wait for unit owners to arrive to check on their properties.

Peak time for business is normally after keys to the properties are handed to the owners once a certificate of fitness is issued by local authorities.

Property owners who don’t have sufficient funds are approached by sweet-talking runners who offer them renovation services.

Lack of funds is no reason to worry, they are told. Contractors can go ahead and start work first.

Owners can ask to have their units painted and installed with grilles, build kitchen cabinets and tile – all without paying a single sen upfront.

The loan sharks will “make payment” to the contractors and the property owners have to make monthly or weekly instalment payments to the “illegal moneylenders”.

Those who wish to get their units renovated have to submit their credit cards, bank books and ATM cards to the loan sharks.

In the event an outside contractors come into project sites where the loan shark runners are stationed, then there is confrontation.

Often, outsiders will not come in to do business on turf grounds “conquered” by the runners due to fear.

And most property owners refuse to complain such activities to the authorities, fearing their properties might be damaged, vandalised or other forms of reprisals.

theSun learnt that the menace is widespread in southern parts of the city, such as Bandar Sri Petaling, Desa Petaling, Salak Selatan and other areas where there is a mushrooming number of new projects.

The MCA Public Services and Complaints Department, which received more than 600 loan shark cases involving more than RM54 million last year, is equally aware and concern with this growing menace.

Its head Datuk Michael Choong said property owners harrassed by loan sharks offering eash payment schemes for renovation works must report their activities.

“These unscrupulous contractors behave like gangsters, preventing others from taking up jobs in their ‘area of control’. Some even had the audacity to put up tables in newly completed project site in a bid to ‘force’ owners and tenants to take up their renovation services.

“I urge those who face such problems to lodge police reports. We are also willing to help anyone facing such problems by raising it with the relevant authorities, including the developers.

“While the problem of loan sharks teaming up with renovation contractors is something new, efforts must be taken by all parties to ensure it doesn’t become a menace to society,” said Chong.

Police Letting Killers Run Free in Malaysia

In Malaysia, the police are probably too lazy to even investigate a suspected killing.  Hey, it’s already been proven!  You can see the videos of drivers breaking the law in front of the police station —- ALL HERE AT www.bodohland.com  – courtesy of Datuk Goh.

Dad of ‘death fall’ man thinks it’s murder

KLANG: The father of businessman Sim Kwee Giap, who fell to his death from the 11th floor of the Desa Jaya apartments in Kepong on Sunday, claims he could have been murdered.

Sim Kwee Seong, 52, said there were marks on Kwee Giap’s neck that raised suspicions that he was strangled.

He said a doctor (at the mortuary where he claimed the body) told him that the marks looked like fingernail marks, which suggested strangulation.

“But I was told that the death was due to the fall and injuries sustained and not by strangulation. My son had no reason to commit suicide because he was doing well in his business. His personal life was good,” he said when met at the funeral parlour yesterday.

Selayang OCPD ACP Abdul Rahim Abdullah said the postmortem report showed no evidence of strangulation.

Girl not held against will

BY ANDREW SAGAYAM

KUALA LUMPUR: Police are refuting a media report that the adopted son of a former Cabinet minister was arrested for abducting and confining his ex-girlfriend for 16 hours at his apartment in Mutiara Damansara over the weekend.

Brickfields OCPD Asst Comm Wan Abdul Bari Wan Abdul Khalid said police could not begin investigations, let alone make arrests, without first obtaining the order to investigate (OTI) from the Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP).

“We did not make such comments as reported yesterday. How can we arrest anyone or record statements from them if we don’t have the OTI?” he said. He added that the case was classified under Section 323 of the Penal Code for causing hurt and not abduction as reported by the local media.

ACP Wan Abdul Bari also denied that the victim, a 24-year-old university student from Ipoh, suffered multiple injuries on the head, face and hands when she was allegedly confined.

“After meeting up for dinner in Bangsar on Saturday, she willingly went with her 25-year-old ex-boyfriend from the same university to his apartment at 9pm.

“The ex-boyfriend was said to have slapped her when she told him that she was seeing another man.

“She then sent an SMS to her current boyfriend claiming that she was assaulted by her ex and was being confined,” said ACP Wan Abdul Bari.

A police team went to the apartment following a report lodged by the woman’s current boyfriend at 10am on Sunday.

However, he denied that police spent about two hours persuading the woman’s ex-boyfriend to release her.

“The police took her away without any hassle. Checks revealed that she had access to the apartment as she had lived there previously for four years,” he said, adding the victim lodged a report at 1pm.
