very good” future

Majority confident of future!!!! Hurray Hurray—let see who are happy–oh…the Malays!!

**********************************************

KUALA LUMPUR: An overwhelming majority of Malaysians are confident their families will have a “good” or “very good” future in the country regardless of the political situation.

The National Current Issues opinion poll showed that 86% felt that the country’s future was “good” or “very good”. The remaining felt it would be “bad” or “very bad”.

A total of 1,367 respondents were involved in the survey carried out between Aug 1 and Aug 18. The respondents, aged 21 and above, were randomly selected nationwide across race and gender.

The survey, by International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) researchers, has a margin of error of less than 4%.

IIUM Communications Department professor Datuk Dr Syed Arabi Idid, who headed the survey, said Malaysians had a good feeling about the country regardless of their political views.

“They still have confidence in the country’s future and in the future of their families. They also have a good feeling about the current economic situation and business opportunities,” he said in revealing the findings.

On the current economic situation, 59% felt it was “good”, and 14% “very good”; while 23% felt it was “bad” and 4% “very bad”.

The vast majority believed that current business opportunities in the country were “good” and “very good”, with only 24% feeling it was “bad” and 3% “very bad”.

However, respondents were not as confident about current job opportunities, with 53% stating that it was “good”, 15% “very good”, 26% “bad” and 6% “very bad”.

Najib & your cronies in the BN

Another blast from Dr. Ronnie Tan Kee Kwong…

“ Without fear and favour..”, this heroic scion of

Tan Sri Dr. Tan Chee Khoon… .. an intrepid politician of his father’s mettle and character…

From the desk of Dr Tan Kee Kwong  14/8/2010

Dear Najib & your cronies in the BN,

I learnt with alarm that for the past 3 years, Petronas has given to the Federal Government 290 billion ie 290,000 JUTA! Wow, what a fantastic sum of money. Plaese Najib, Pak Lah & Mahathir, tell us the rakyat how you spent or wasted this huge sum of money.

As I have said before, Petronas as an entity was & still is quite a well run company. But the past 3 PM,s have ruined it all. By a special Act of Parliament passed in the 70’s PDA ie Petroleum Development Act, Petronas is only accountable to the PM ONLY. In the past we had 2 Oil Ministers who had no say at all. Even under PDA, the Minister of Finance has no say at all. Even the Cabinet cannot examine the true accounts of Petronas. What a shame. This is totally unacceptable. You can rest assured that the incoming Pakatan Rakyat Federal Government will change all that. those that have plundered the wealth of the nation had better watch out, you will be charged & sent to jail for a very long time!

DIVIDENDS PAID
Under Mahathir, Dividends paid to the Govt was about 2 to 3 billion annually. The so called Mr Clean ie Pak Lah forced Petronas to pay 10 billion then 20 billion finally to pay 30 billion. During Mr Clean tenure as PM  dividends paid was 10x what was paid during Mahathir’s time. Where did all this money go?  Mainly to finance all the budget deficits during his rule. A lot went to useless Defense spending. Also the nation only got 10 billion worth out of 30 billion!

In the 80’s& 90’s about 100 billion was spent from Petronas coffers to bail out Bank Bumiputra TWICE. Also during the finacial crise of 1997, Petronas was forced to buy MISC to bail out Mahatir’s son.

KLCC LAND, ANOTHER BIG TIME SCAM
I remember in the mid 50’s my family stayed for 2 years in no 2 Jalan Penang. At that time there was only the Race Course there. As kids we enjoyed plucking the delicious rambutans there. Now it is so different.
At that time the HQ of Petronas was housed in Dayabumi. There was a severe shortage of office space as the Petronas operations expanded very fast.

Initially the plan was to build a new HQ in Jln Tun Razak, opposite the Royal Sgor Golf Club.(site of the present Prnce Court Hospital) That plan was aborted as the DCA(Dept of Civil Aviation) objected strongly as it was in the flight path of the Sungai Besi RMAF Air Base. Then Petronas went ahead to buy a piece of land in Jalan Ampang, behind Yow Chuan Plaza for only 30 million.

Suddenly Mahathir intervened & came out with a devious plan to steal the money from Petronas to enrich his special crony etc. First the was the outcry in the press on how the Race Course was causing massive traffic jams every week-end. So the Federal Government & DBKL decided that the Race Course must shift to Sungai Besi, its present site. If the land was sold/surrendered from the Turf Club to Petronas direct that will be perfectly OK. BUT the Turf Club was forced to sell its land to a very special  Mahatir Crony. Within a matter of a few months the special crony sold the land to Petronas at a huge price of 600 Million! The top brass of Petronas was instructed, CANNOT negotiate the price, just pay. How ridiculous, who pays 600 million without even a one dollar discount.
Please Mahathir, you were in charge of Petronas then who was the crony/individual involved & who others benefited.

PAK LAH “GAVE” AWAY BLOCK L AND BLOCK M, SARAWAK
Another ginormous scandal that cost the nation US100 BILLION. Recently Mahathir wrote in his blog site that 3 weeks before Pak Lah stepped down as PM he “gave’ the above land to Brunei. Wonder what made him do that, maybe in one of his naps in public he just assigned our rights to Brunei. I am sure it was not for free, many relatives & cronies benefited because this is a business deal, not an NGO doing charity.
In the past Petronas went into joint sharing agreements with Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Indonesia etc This should have been the case in Block L and Block M.

Sarawakians , plaese wake up. You stay in on of the poorest states in Malaysia. Your Ketua Menteri(Pek Moh) is so blatantly corrupt that even his BN broyhers in SUPP are complaining. And Pak Lah “gave”your wealth away to Brunei

IN CONCLUSION

UMNO/BN plase come clean on the real affairs of Petronas
Abolish the present PDA Act. Replace it with a better & more transparent Act that the financial affairs of Petronas MUST be accountable to the Parliament
Examine the real cause of the severe drop in FDI. Not only that even the local tycoons have very little faith in this country. Don’t you care. Every year at least 400,000 finish their SPM examinations. With this state of affairs what is going to happen to them?

Don’t just enrich yourselves, give a little bit back to the Nation!

Task force to look out for sensitive matter on Internet

KUALA LUMPUR: A special unit has been set up to look out for Internet postings that can ignite racial tension and cause disunity, said Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein.

The ministry would gather the expertise of its enforcement unit, the police, A-G’s Chamber and the judiciary to look into such cases.

Hishammuddin was asked to comment on a Facebook page that insulted Malay sensitivities.

Several groups, such as the Selangor Federation of Peninsular Malay Students, Gagasan Pendidikan Melayu Malaysia and Perkasa lodged a police report against the page at the Dang Wangi police station here on Wednesday.

On another matter, Hishammuddin said his ministry had never taken sides when handling incidents which involved churches and mosques.

“For some cases, it takes a longer time to investigate and to be solved.

“But for the incident where paint was splashed on a surau, we were able to arrest the perpetrators within one day and got them charged,” he told reporters after visiting the Narcotics Rehabilitation Centre (Puspen) here yesterday.

He said the ministry handled all cases equally regardless of the race and religion of those involved.

Hishammuddin added that there were certain parties that wanted to raise these sensitive issues to create hatred and disunity among the people.

Hishammuddin was commenting on an article by Pantai Dalam MP Nurul Izzah Anwar on an online portal discussing the issue of Malay rights.

He also questioned the timing of the posting, and wondered whether it was related to the upcoming Parti Keadilan Rakyat elections.

“If it (the article) threatens national security and causes anger among the people, it is meaningless no matter what position we hold in the party,” he said.

He added the police would investigate the article if there was a police report lodged against it.

On another matter, Hishammuddin said a recommendation would be made to the Cabinet to expand the 1Malaysia Cure and Care Clinic nationwide.

Individuals with a drug addiction problem could get consultation and treatment at these clinics.

The first 1Malaysia Cure and Care Clinic, which can accommodate 400 patients, started operations on July 1 in Sungai Besi and is providing service to 219 drug addicts.

Meanwhile, Datuk Seri Najib Razak said the public could trust the mainstream media as its reporting was based on facts unlike the alternative media.

The Prime Minister said some of the articles published in the alternative media such as online portals and blogs were “half truths and inaccurate”.

“The mainstream media has one strength which cannot be found in the alternative media – they are fact-based.

“If we read the mainstream media, intuitively we regard it as an authoritative report whose facts cannot be questioned,” he said at a breaking-of-fast ceremony at the New Straits Times Press office here.

“Its principles are based on facts, as compared to blogs which are personal, usually a one-man show and opinion-based.

“There must be a discerning public who can see the strength of the mainstream media.”

Subject: FW: Be careful while you are in KLCC

Hi,

If you are not convinced, or never had been worried before, now is the time to worry and fret.

In my opinion, everywhere in KL -and for that matter other big cities too – no parking  place is safe.

Please be most careful when you are out and about.

Be mindful while you are in car parks anywhere.

Do not trust even the security guards !!!

Pls be careful ……..
To those of you who go to K.L.

Security in KLCC Tower getting worse…
Don’t trust, even the security guards. Please let your loved ones know….

Security in KLCC Tower getting worse (DON’T DELETE B4 READING !!!!
This is a true experience. This message was passed to us with the consent of the victim.
Yesterday evening, one of our staff’s wife arrived with their child to do some shopping together with her husband in KLCC.
After they have finished shopping, they went home in separate cars because they came in 2 cars. The child followed the father while the wife went separately to her car which was parked at level P2.

When the wife wanted to pay for the parking, she found out she has lost the parking ticket. The parking attendant asked her to go to KLCC Parking Office.
So she went to the office hoping to get some help. At the KLCC Parking Office, a parking attendant said she has to go to KLCC Security office. He offered to give her a ride on his motorbike there, but she refused and followed behind his bike  in her Kancil. He took her to P1 and then they reached a narrow alley where the car was not able to go through. He then asked her to take a ride on his motorbike instead and leave her car behind.

At the end of the alley, there were 3 GUYS waiting for them, all of them dressed in neat uniform. They tried to gang rape her. But fortunately, with the strength from God, she managed to kick one of them where it HURTS the most and ran away as fast as she could.

She went up to the place her subconscience told her where most of the shoppers were, i.e. Picnic Court . Because her hubby does not own a handphone, she had to wait for him to reach home before she could contact him. She called him up later and asked him to come and fetched her.

She dare not report this occurrence to any KLCC security guard. She does not TRUST them any longer. (I won’t too, given the same situation).

They reported the incident to the police. Later the police called her up to identify the personnel. But due to the shock and trauma, she could not recognize them. All of them were wearing cap at that time. There were 4 Malay guys altogether.
– 1 wearing a light yellow top with dark blue bottom (KLCC parking maintenance)
– 2 wearing white tops with dark bottom (parking attendant)
– 1 wearing a light brown top with dark bottom (KLCC Suria parking and Park security guard)

According to the police, countless incident of gang rapes happened here in KLCC. And they suspected that it is all an inside job.

The staff’s wife wishes all women staff of Petronas to be careful and vigilant in future especially in the parking area and toilets. This goes for the Men as well.
Please warn your wife/family members or friends.
Thank You & Regards,

Online journalism seeking revenue to stay afloat

PETALING JAYA: Operators of online journalism have said that it has been a struggle to seek revenue in the business.

For instance, The Malaysian Insider chief executive officer Jahabar Sadiq said his news portal was in the red.

“Internet advertising helps cover only half of our costs,” he said.

“We are lucky to have shareholders with deep pockets,’’ he said in his paper on How to make a living from online journalism at an international online journalism seminar at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman on Thursday.

The seminar was co-organised by the university, Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, European Journalism Centre and the Asian Center for Journalism at the Ateneo de Manila University.

Seminar attendees: Participants listening and taking notes at an international online journalism seminar held at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman on Thursday.

Malaysiakini chief executive officer and co-founder Premesh Chandran said they had been forced to adopt the paid subscriber model in order to survive.

“The advertising industry never supported online media,’’ he said, adding that they were perceived to be anti-government.

Premesh said Malaysiakini had loyal supporters who backed independent media and its reform goals.

He said about half of their income comes from subscription and the other half from advertising.

Premesh told traditional media organisations to change the way they operate in order to survive because advertising was no longer their monopoly.

“Ninety percent of advertising online goes to non-media companies like Google and Facebook now.’’

Birmingham City University senior lecturer Paul Bradshaw said it was important for online journalists to be the first to send an SMS, e-mail or tweet online on breaking news.

“You will rank higher in search engines like Google News.

“It will make it possible for people to find you and contribute to your story,’’ he said.

In his paper A model for the 21st century newsroom, Bradshaw said many traditional media organisations failed to market themselves effectively online, thinking having a website was sufficient.

Malaysian Suckers!!!

I think everything he wrote is fact.  Cannot agree more. No wonder it is so expensive to live in Msia for the hard working Msians-
Yes, I think they are. What do I get for paying toll everyday? Still caught in the traffic jam.
Now I have to pay an extra RM50 for each credit card. For what?
Extra GST (goods and services tax). Again, how does that benefit me?

Look at the long list:

I have to pay for security guards because the  police are hopeless.
I have to install filters because the water supply is dirty.
I have to watch satellite tv because the government broadcasts crap.

Many kids have to go for tuition or to private schools because the government schools are bad.
We have to pay IPPs (independent power providers) because the government cannot provide consistent electricity.

We have to pay Indah Water to clean up the sewers.
We have to pay tax on foreign cars because Mahathir wants to keep his dying local car industry alive. ON top of it APs cost bcoz of his cronies.
Most have to drive because the government cannot provide good public transport.

We have to pay to sustain the government’s affirmative action policies.
We have to pay for private health care because the public hospitals are crowded .

All in all, we have to pay a PREMIUM to stay in this country!

1Malaysia Boleh!!!
DAMN!!!!!

IF YOU AGREE, PLEASE FORWARD.

Did Advertlets Lie to Me about Paying Me My Previous Months’ Earnings?

From my fellow blogger at:
http://www.wayangtimes.com/did-advertlets-lie-to-me-about-paying-me-my-previous-months-earnings.html
**************************************

Okay, so Advertlets continues to ignore my emails and they have also lied to me about paying me for my Dec 2009 and Feb 2010 earnings before 20th of this month. Eight days after 20 Jun 2010, my hard-earned money is still unpaid to me.

This was what Advertlets emailed me on Tue, Jun 8, 2010 at 12:08 PM:

Hi,

Apologies for the delay. The payments for Dec & Feb will be made before
the 20th of this month, and the Mar payment will be made at the 20th of
July.

In the meantime, as you do cash out large amounts regularly, we will have
to increase your credit terms to 60-90 days from the end of the month of
cashout.

We will be rolling out new payment terms throughout the network, starting
with those that cash out regularly. We regret the delay, however, if you
wish to consider a secondary option of getting less, but more timely
payment do let us know and we can work out a new arrangement.

Please note that you have been paid a significant amount already, and your
tweets on Twitter do not help us pay out faster. Delay is unavoidable at
the moment, but rest assured that you will be paid – as you have
definitely already received payment in the past.

The following was my reply, after removing sensitive information, on Mon, Jun 14, 2010 at 9:55 AM:

Hi [name removed],

1. Thank you for stating that you will make the payments for Dec & Feb before 20th of June 2010, and make payment for Mar at 20th of July 2010.

You should credit the money to the following bank account:
[info removed]

2. You said that you will have to increase my credit terms to 60-90 days from end of the month of cashout. But let’s look at the facts, and note that today is the middle of June 2010:

End Dec 2009 cashout – This is more than 5 months ago, which is about 165 days from the end of the month of cashout.

End Feb 2010 cashout – This is more than 3 months ago, which is about 105 days from the end of the month of cashout.

3. My previous email to Advertlets resulted in a similar response from your company, and that is “…been paid a significant amount already, and your tweets on Twitter do not help us pay out faster. Delay is unavoidable at the moment…” That was why I patiently waited 165 days since Dec 2009 cashout for your payment, but I never see that.

4. The issue is that I am never paid on time, and when I email Advertlets, I never get a response. I only get a response after I blog and tweet about your late payment.

5. You said “…We regret the delay, however, if you wish to consider a secondary option of getting less, but more timely payment do let us know and we can work out a new arrangement…” All reputable companies such as Google Adsense and Adbrite always pay me 100% of what they owe me, on time. Are you saying that Advertlets is a not a reputable company and need to charge a commission on my hard-earned money even though this is not publicly made known to all your bloggers?

To whoever from Advertlets reading this post, I was forced to blog about this because you never reply my emails unless I complain on my blog or tweet about how bad Advertlets appears to be!

Maybe I would suggest this, pay me all that you owe me immediately, and I resign from your network. This arrangement will mean that we will no longer be mad with each other and will have nothing to do with each other.

And seriously, if you cannot afford to pay the few hundred ringgit that you owe me, I wonder how reliable you are to both us bloggers and your advertisers. Perhaps your advertisers such as Hewlett Packard, Toyota, Gap, Starbucks, DiGi, Zuji, Omy etc etc should start making queries about Advertlets’ questionable behaviours.

Ghost of Mongolian Model Continues to Haunt Malaysian Government

by

Jonathan Manthorpe,

(Vancouver Sun July 5, 2010)

PM Najib, Wife Rosmah and Altantuya Shaaribuu

The ghost of murdered Mongolian model and translator Altantuya Shaariibuu refuses to lie quiet.

For the Malaysian government of prime minister Najib Tun Razak a line appeared to have been drawn under the sordid and politically explosive affair when two of his bodyguards from his days as defence minister were convicted last year of the young woman’s murder in the jungle outside Kuala Lumpur in October 2006.

But in the last few weeks two events have revived simmering questions about the connection of the murder to a $1.2 billion contract to buy two French Scorpene-class diesel submarines ordered while Najib was defence minister.

Najib’s friend and adviser on defence matters, Abdul Razak Baginda, whose wife’s company was paid a questionable $150 million over the submarine contract, had recently brought a love affair with Shaariibuu to an acrimonious end when she was abducted and murdered.

During the months’ long trial of the two police bodyguards every effort was made to ensure prime minister Najib’s name didn’t figure in evidence.

And in a move that astonished legal experts, the judge early on in the trial exonerated Baginda of any responsibility. He promptly fled to Britain where he remains.

The stage management of the trial convinced Malaysian human rights groups that it would be pointless to try to resolve the Shaariibuu case in the senior courts in Kuala Lumpur.

One of those Malaysian human rights groups, Suaram, has therefore pressed for a judicial inquiry in France, where there are a number of investigations underway of the notorious willingness of state-owned defence companies to pay bribes or other inducements in order to gain arms contracts.

In this case Parisian prosecutors started inquiries in March focusing on the $150 million paid to a Malaysian company called Perimekar, which was set up just before Najib signed in 2002 the deal to buy the two Scorpene submarines from the French state-owned shipbuilder DCN.

Perimekar was ostensibly hired to provide “coordination and support services” for the contract, but no evidence has been produced to show the company had the skills for such tasks or ever attempted to perform them.

razak bagindaPerimekar is a wholly-owned subsidiary of a company called KS Ombak Laut Sdn Bhd., whose principal shareholder is lawyer Mazalinda Baginda, the wife of prime minister Najib’s friend and adviser Razak Baginda.

Shaariibuu, 28 at the time of her death, had learned French when she was a model in Paris and there is evidence she acted as translator for her paramour Baginda during his negotiations with DCN over the submarines on behalf of Najib and the Malaysian government.

Malaysian authorities have responded to the move by French prosecutors to investigate DCN and particularly its submarine-manufacturing subsidiary Armaris, for possible corruption and paying kickbacks by insisting nothing is wrong.

A spokesman for prime minister Najib said recently the French prosecutors have the right to investigate, “but for us, there is no case to answer.” He added that the deal was entirely free of corruption.

Exactly why Shaariibuu was murdered by Najib’s bodyguards has never been entirely resolved, despite the long trial and 45 witnesses.

By some accounts, after Baginda jilted her, the young woman and a friend launched several noisy demonstrations outside Baginda’s house.

Baginda reportedly went to Najib’s chief of staff, Musa Safri, and asked for help in keeping the young woman away from his home.

mongolian beauty Pictures, Images and PhotosAs a result, the two police bodyguards, Chief Inspector Azilah Hadri and Corporal Sirul Azhar Umar, abducted Shaariibuu during one of her demonstrations, took her to the jungle outside the capital and shot her.

But they then used military C4 explosives to blow up the body in an apparent attempt to foil identification, though this act has, of course, led to speculation that Shaariibuu was pregnant.

But in a letter written by Shaariibuu and discovered after her death -a letter never produced in evidence -she indicated she was trying to blackmail Baginda for $500,000 to keep quiet about the details of the $150 million paid to his wife’s company, Perimekar.

There have also been suggestions that Shaariibuu knew details of the many other arms purchases made in the military equipment buildup overseen by Najib while he was defence minister from 2002 to 2008.

These deals include the purchase of Sukhoi supersonic fighter jet aircraft from Russia and of a small fleet of coastal defence vessels.

As well as Malaysian human rights organizations, Shaariibuu’s parents have been adamant that there has been no real justice for their murdered daughter.

With the stage-managed criminal trial now done, Shaariibuu’s father and mother have tried to bring a civil suit seeking compensation for her death against Baginda and the two convicted policemen.

In a strange move, Malaysia’s High Court in March ordered the family to make a security deposit of the equivalent of $20,000 for the case to be heard by the Court of Appeal and potentially to continue to the Federal Court.

The family was distraught, saying it could not raise such a sum.

But last week The Mongolian government announced it will put up the security bond demanded by the Malaysian court so the case can be heard, though at this point it seems more likely that Shaariibuu’s ghost will get justice in Paris rather than Kuala Lumpur.
